Biography

Life is not often filled with puppies, rainbows, and unicorns but can result in trauma, stress, and the unexpected. I know you are not looking for a provider because things are going well in your life and that is my purpose for being here. I became a nurse because I wanted to help others and give back to the world; and then, became a nurse practitioner because I felt there was more I could do to help ease suffering.

As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at David S. Deuser & Associates, I am able to provide initial assessments, diagnoses, and medication management for mental health issues. I do not provide traditional psychotherapy, but I will incorporate brief psychotherapy into scheduled appointments. I am also a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and while I do not provide routine medical care, I am able to provide more holistic care as I am able to give consideration to your medical issues.

To help you with your goal of health and healing, I will use over 20 years of experience to assist you with your goals knowing that every person is a unique individual that deserves time and respect to be heard. I did not begin my journey as a health care provider to work in mental health, but once I did, I found my professional passion.

I am one of 5 nurse practitioners in GA who are certified as addictions specialists from the International Nurses Society on Addictions and am a trained EMDR provider for trauma. Additionally, I teach in the PMHNP program at Georgia Southern and have extensive experience in the fields of crisis stabilization, intellectual developmental disability diagnosed adults, learning disabilities, and gifted individuals.
